How We Came Up With Our Blog’s Name

Here at McKinley, we do everything diplomatically. We always aim for consensus before implementing new projects or ideas. Choosing a name for our blog would be no different. We wanted the entire staff to embrace the company blog and feel as if it were their own. We began by polling our staff for creative suggestions.

Here were just a few of the submissions:

  1. 1. Views from the Top!
    2. Denali
    3. IMMagineBlog
    4. IMMportant News from McKinley
    5. McBlog
    6. The Denali Report
    7. The McKinley Minute
    8. McKinley Exchange
    9. McKinley Beacons
    10. The Summit

Through Survey Monkey we asked each team member to cast one vote for their favorite blog name. And the winner emerged as The Summit. It was submitted by Alison Kennedy, Manager of Client Services.

We asked Alison how she came up with the name and here is what she said:

“McKinley Marketing Partners’ name is derived from Mount McKinley in Alaska. I knew she wanted to incorporate McKinley’s history with current Web 2.0 trends. I also knew the purpose of creating this blog was to have a “meeting” place for marketing, communications, and public relations professionals. The definition of summit means the highest point or part or the top; connotatively the summit means a gathering, meeting, and convention. I brought the two definitions together and the rest is history!”
